The procedure concerns the recognition of foreign academic degrees of third-cycle education. The interested parties submit their applications electronically using the platform:

Following the entry into the platform, interested parties may apply for the necessary supporting documents and be informed of the evolution and history of their applications. The recognition procedure is addressed to PhD holders of foreign academic institutions and consists of the equivalence of qualifications in relation to the doctoral degrees awarded by Greek higher educational institutions.

Notes:
The application serves as a solemn declaration under Article 8 of Law 1599/1986 (VAT I75) concerning the information referred to therein and the documents submitted with it. The inaccuracy of the information given in the application entail the criminal and administrative penalties provided for. Foreign citizens without a VAT number must be identified by the Organisation and then having their access data (user name and password) sent on the portal.

A copy of the third-cycle degree (doctorate) that is requested to be recognised, which either
A) will bear a certification of the authenticity of the signatures in accordance with the Hague Convention (APOSTILLE stamp) * (explanation below) and then legally certified by one of the following Greek authorities:
i) the translation service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece
or ii) a Greek lawyer
or iii) the Embassy/Consulate of Greece in the country where the document is issued.

If the Program of Studies provides for the attendance of courses, an official transcript of records with detailed grades for all years of study is required, which must be signed, bear the stamp of the Institution and indicate the date of award of the degree. A copy must be submitted, which, alternatively, must meet the following requirements:
A) it must bear a certification of authenticity of signatures in accordance with the Hague Convention (APOSTILLE stamp) * (see explanation below).

If courses from a previous degree(s) or part of studies have been recognised/transferred, the following documents must be attached to a single file:
A) The degree and the course certificate from the institution from which the credits have been transferred if the course of study has been completed or only the course certificate if the course of study has not been completed
B) a certificate from the institution which awarded the qualification to be recognised, specifying the recognition/transfer of credits
All of the above must be attached to the application by the interested party in a single file and, in addition, must be requested at the applicants own risk to be sent to the IOATAP (by post or by e-mail at protocol_A@doatap.gr) so that they can be cross-checked.
In case the above is issued by the Foundation in a language other than Greek, English or French, an official translation from:
i. the translation service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece - Register of Certified Translators - Register of Certified Translators (mfa.gr)
or ii. a Greek lawyer
or iii. the Embassy/Consulate of Greece in the country where the document is issued
ATTENTION
In case of recognition/transfer of courses from a previous degree(s) where the awarding institution is included in the List of Foreign Institutions with a Beneficence Agreement in Greece, the following must also be submitted.

It must be requested on the applicants responsibility, completed by the institution where the courses have been recognised/transferred and sent directly (by post or by e-mail to protocol_A@doatap.gr) to DOATAP, and also to the person concerned to attach it to the application.
In case the Certificate of Place of Study is completed by the Institution in a language other than Greek, English or French, the applicant must also attach the Certificate of Place of Study, in a legally certified copy and translated by:
i. the translation service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece - Register of Certified Translators - Register of Certified Translators (mfa.gr)
or ii. a Greek lawyer
